Today i tried the first time to do GeoCaching with my Nokia N810 running the Maemo (which is a Debian-based Distribution). I already own a Garmin Geko 201 with which i found 100+ Caches, so this is my reference. The GPS-Receiver of the N810 is better than the one in the Geko (at least since i use the fixed gpsd, which normally shouldn’t do something on the performance, but in my case… it made me feel better), so fixes come faster, and more accurate than on the Geko. (from hearsay the SirfIII-Chip is even better) ...

I sometimes find myself in a state that needs to write out what i feel or mean to a topic. So i decided to establish an own blog. And here it is. I read for some time the Blogs of my friends and cow-orkers corona (fimpern.de no longer active) and wusel (blogdoch.net no longer active) and both decided to use this nice Blogsoftware called Simple PHP Blog (project defunct). It is very featureful, but the deciding thing is, that it doesn’t need a Database running in the Background. ...

work the 4th day at the new company Mediaways… all in all it is the same as my previous employer ABACOM, the main difference by now is that it had 20 times more employees and a better internet connection ;-)

ok… i tried to write before, but my Netscape shit itself and i don’t wanted to start over again… ok, now i try lynx and here we go: home i’m happy that i found a new home yesterday. Now the stress starts… moving… buying furniture, install infrastructure … Debian after a long time thinking about it, i’ve now applied to become a Debian Maintainer… stay tuned.

Telco I can’t believe it… they fixed it within 26 hours. As far as i can see, the cable was broken somewhere where they build a cycleway or something… SPARCstation 5 I got it… i’m going to call it kurn as my other computers are named worf, alexander, mogh and jadzia… it has 64MB RAM and a 1Gig harddisk and now there is Solaris 2.7 on it… let’s see how long it takes that i wipe that out ;-) ...

Telco Fsck! they did it again… they cut off the whole village i live in from telephone service… (Last time is 9 months ago… it took 4 days before they started to work on the problem.) No Internet@$HOME since sunday afternoon… calling the service-hotline with the cell phone… after 30 minutes hanging on the phone listing an annoying melody and random disconnects i get an automatic ‘sorry: this number cannot reached from your phone’ WHAT? why could i call that number in the 30 minutes before without that message? Fsck. Switching over to the business hotline… after another 15 minutes hanging on the phone listening that annoying melody and random disconnects i finally reach someone and earn an ‘i assign a technican for tuesday afternoon or so’. hrmpf this sucks. (note to self: sell the stocks of Deutsche Telekom ASAP) ...

Calamaris Found the time to look over the sources and found that in the current unstable is a bug… and that in the next unstable this bug is fixed and introduced another… no fun… hope i can fix this this weekend and release another unstable… Those people i asked for support, after they reported me a bug or something, don’t move… still no Netscape Proxy Extended-2 Logfile-snippet there. The hacker who added graphics seemed to be not ready in beautifying the code… it’s a long way to V3… sigh ...
